SOPHIA SANCHEZ-NUNEZ – 3rd Prize- Novice Strings 2025

Sophia Sanchez-Nuñez is a 12 year old violinist, violist, pianist, and composer. She has been playing piano for five years, violin and viola for two years, and is the concertmaster for the Temecula Valley Youth Symphony’s “Concert Orchestra” and plays viola in their “Symphonic Orchestra”. She takes piano, violin and viola lessons with the Temecula Music Teacher school. She enjoys composing and she won second place in the Temecula Music Teacher’s Composition Competition and second place in the Western Regional level of the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Composer’s Contest for ages 10-12 for her composition “Nebula Joy Rondo” which was composed for viola and piano. She performed this composition at a strings recital at Temecula Music Teacher and at the Temecula Valley Symphony’s Annual Board Meeting. Besides music, she takes debate and astronomy and is an active member of the National Junior Honor Society.
